We are excited to introduce three new advisors, Helen Kwon, Tara Lunde and Robyn Carter to serve you at International Programs. They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Advising Team and their priority is to make sure you have a good experience at Green River Community College and that you will achieve your educational goals.

Helen attended Wellesley College where she majored in Urban Studies and Education, later completing a Master’s degree in Education at Harvard University. She spent a semester of her junior year of college studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea. Read more about Helen here and friend her on Facebook.

Tara obtained a BA in International Political Economy and a minor in Spanish at University of Puget Sound and an MA in Student Development Administration at Seattle University. She studied abroad in Argentina as an undergraduate. She has previously worked with Semester at Sea and spent seven years as the Assistant Director of Annual Giving at Seattle University. Robyn earned her BA in Communications and Media Management with minors in Political Science and Spanish from San Diego State University and is currently completing her MA in International Education at the School for International Training in Vermont. After earning her undergraduate degree, she spent a year in Spain as a language instructor and then four years as a Peace Corps Community Development Coordinator/English Teacher in Chad and Benin. With the addition of new advisors, there will be a change in your lead advisors effective March 1, 2012. Please rest assured there will be no change in the quality of our advising services and we will ensure all international students are well served. Your lead advisor will be contacting you via email shortly. Alvin Tai will continue to serve Green River Community College as the new Director of International Outreach beginning March 1. Our three part-time advisors, Melanie Kaneshiro, Charlotte West, and Erin Hitzemann will also continue to be available for general questions. Charlotte will also continue to work with students on their personal statements for transfer applications.

With our collective expertise, creativity, and passion for students, we are very confident your IP Advisors will continue to meet and exceed your expectations. The additions to the team will also help reduce student wait times.
